About Roxia Bullock
My name is Roxia Bullock. I am a graduate of Animal Behavior College where I earned my certification, with honors, as an ABC Certified Dog Trainer. Animal Behavior College (ABC) is approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education and is an internationally recognized school. My certification, education and experience provide me with skills required to effectively and humanly train your dog using positive reinforcement techniques. Positive reinforcement has been scientifically shown to be an effective and caring method of training dogs. After graduation, I began to study for the CPDT-KA and received that certification in October 2020.
I have a passion for dogs, and I know from firsthand experience the difference formal training makes in the relationship between dog and owner. I have been volunteering for many years at an animal shelter setting. It is rewarding to see a shelter dog find their forever home. Part of the success is the training the dogs receive at the shelter to prepare them for their next adventure in their new home. No matter where you obtain your dog, it gives me great satisfaction to see a happy dog and a happy owner.
I come to this field with related experience. I was a teacher for many years in the New York City public school system. I then transitioned to the clinical field of psychotherapy with a master’s in social work. The theories of Classical Conditioning/Operant Conditioning and Behavior Modification are familiar to me from that training. I believe this is an asset in dealing with dogs and their owners and solidifying the relationship between them.
I have owned dogs since I was a child. My husband and I are the proud owners of two rescue dogs. We live in Westchester, New York.
